Spectrical
Timothy Allen, aka Spectrical, is an ambient, drone and experimental artist based in nipaluna, lutruwita / Hobart, Tasmania, and the founder of Perceptual Tapes. His music moves between dissonance and dreaminess, building atmospheric soundscapes from acoustic instruments, tape, analogue and modular synthesis, field recordings and digital processing.
A musician since childhood, Tim began releasing music as Spectrical in 2012. His practice has since grown from experimental recording techniques into a tactile, exploratory approach to sound and texture. He has performed in Hobart and Melbourne, as well as in Japan, and his work has been featured by independent music publications and radio stations in Australia and internationally.
