In 'The Star Whispers', Glacial Anatomy uses modular synths and 'secret sounds' to explore dense frozen dronescapes, slowly unfurling mists, otherworldly lights beyond the horizon, and the strange frequencies whispered by the stars...

Artist statement by Glacial Anatomy:

Nights in the Arctic are long and filled with celestial displays. The shimmering Northern Lights dance across the inky sky, their ethereal colors mirroring the enchanting melodies. These celestial symphonies form a connection between the wanderer and the cosmos, capturing the grandeur of the Arctic night.

REVIEWS

Perceptual Tapes of Hobart, Australia presents The Star Whispers, a suite of icy frozen dronescapes that have that whiteout, lost in the arctic vibe of the isolationist works of Thomas Köner or Lull but with a density and stirring emotional weight that recalls Tim Hecker or Rafael Anton Irisari. Texas, U.S. based artist Glacial Anatomy has created an enveloping soundworld using modular synthesizers and secret sounds, resulting in something magical and celestial, like the Northern Lights illuminating frozen landscapes.

One of my favorite aspects of ambient and atmospheric music is hearing vastly diverse universes unfold in front of you when you hit play. Like being transported to the literal ends of the earth, Glacial Anatomy’s new album “The Star Whispers” is densely packed with arctic dronescapes, mesmerizing layers of soft noise, and mysterious sounds and samples. It evokes a richly complex blend of emotions and sensations — like surveying the cold, bleak, harshness of the Arctic, but from the warmth and comfort of a cabin with a view. It’s a beautiful and richly complex listening experience.
