no wonder  •  なるほど is a collection of experimental ambient pieces by veteran Tokyo-based artist Nekomachi. Working entirely with a vintage Yamaha QY100 rather than modern computer-based tools, Nekomachi weaves field recordings, shimmering digital synths and chopped-up, glitched sequences into immersive and detailed sound worlds. 

Abstract in form, the album blurs the boundaries of genre and mood, shifting from open and expansive to playful and quasi-rhythmic; from hypnotic and meditative to what could only be described as synthetic lounge jazz. 

Nekomachi describes the pieces as fragments, created in spare moments over the course of six years, their origins now only partially remembered. The level of cohesion achieved by Nekomachi in fitting these fragments together is a testament to his talent and careful composition.
